STEVE CAUNT APPRECIATION NIGHT
Last weekend Sydney International Speedway received the sad news that Steve Caunt had lost his battle with Cancer.
Steve was a successful driver, team owner and crew member, and also played a vital role in officiating duties at the track.
To honour the life of Steve Caunt, Sydney International Speedway would like to dedicate the next event on the Saturday, 22nd March to Steve and the Caunt family, the ‘Steve Caunt Appreciation Night’.
The event will comprise of Sprintcars, Late Models, V8 Dirt Modifieds and Wingless Sprints, with the Sprintcar main event paying $9,000 to win.
The number nine was a significant part of Steve’s life, as that was the main number that he competed under, and remains the number run by Steve’s son Lachlan.
All heat races, across all divisions will also have nine lap heat races.
Anyone who wants to show their support for the Caunt family can do so by sponsoring a lap of the 30-lap Sprintcar feature for $200 - further details of this will be announced soon.
Track manager Garry Willmington said, “It will be a big night and it needs to be. We are passionate to make it something special. He (Steve) helped us out with a lot of sponsorship deals, he worked tirelessly to try and help us make the Speedway work. He did so many things, he was so passionate about Sydney International Speedway to make it work to the best he could.”
More details of the event including schedules and nominations will be announced closer to the event.
